We showed up. We voted. We wrote our cheques. And this month, we had the privilege of delivering $6,200 to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides – a gift that will go directly toward supporting their local initiatives right here in our community.
That number isn’t just a total. It’s 100+ individual acts of generosity, multiplied by the simple decision of a room full of women to say yes; yes to showing up, yes to learning about a cause, and yes to giving in a way that actually moves the needle. That’s the quiet magic of 100 Women Who Care Oakville: no galas, no overhead, no complicated asks. Just women meeting four times a year, listening to what our community needs, and writing cheques that turn into real, tangible support.
We are so proud of what our members made possible. Dog Guides transforms lives – providing highly trained assistance dogs at no cost to Canadians living with a range of disabilities and medical conditions. Because our members chose to act, that mission gets to go a little further, right here at home.
Now, We’re Heading to the Front Lines
Our next gathering is Tuesday, September 15, and this time we’re doing something a little different: we’re meeting inside the work itself, at Kerr Street Mission.
We’ve been so grateful over the years for local businesses that have opened their doors to host us. This time, we’re stepping into a space that is the mission – learning firsthand about the vital work Kerr Street Mission does to support families, youth, and individuals across Oakville. There’s something powerful about voting for a cause from inside the very walls where that work happens every day.

If you’ve never been to a gathering, here’s what to expect: you show up, you hear two or three short presentations from local charities and non-profits, you make a $100 donation, you vote. That’s it. In under an hour, you become part of something that’s channeled tens of thousands of dollars into causes that build health, dignity, and well-being across our community – one gathering at a time.
No fundraisers to organize. No long-term commitment beyond showing up when you can. Just collective generosity, made simple.
